Setting the needle pressure correctly is essential for the best sound quality and to protect your records properly. We find that sometimes it can be difficult to understand how to set the weight correctly. So let us give you a step-by-step explanation on how to adjust it:

Make sure the record player's arm is properly balanced. You do this by floating the arm and adjusting the counterweight so that the arm floats horizontally.

Then set the counterweight to 0.

Now turn the weight until you reach at least 3 grams. According to the manual, the needle pressure should be between 3 and 6 grams.

Should your turntable still not work properly, try adding a little more weight by turning the weight. It may be confusing, but if the scale goes up to 3 grams and you turn further to, say, 1, you actually have 4 grams of needle pressure.

Note that with the following needles the settings are different:

ATVM-95E = 2.0+- 0.2

AT-3600(L) = 3.0+-0.5

Ortofon 2M RED= 1.8+- 0.2

We recommend making the needle pressure slightly heavier than you currently have set, to see if this makes a positive difference in your turntable's performance.
